Unique Track Record

M&P has become an outstanding consultant in Hong Kong with a unique track record of professional services and designs that others could not provide. Examples:

  1. In 1982, being the first consultant to introduce “Combined Services Co-ordination Design” to Hong Kong.   M&P used CSCD to design the French International School; and as a result, there was no need for false ceilings in the school (to conceal the M&E services).
  2. In 1985, used the concept of “Energy Audit” to design the Shantou International Hotel. M&P successful reduced its power connection cost by 30%. (i.e. At a time of power shortage in China.)
  3. In 1989, replaced the air-cooled auxiliary chillers at MTRC’s Central Computer Centre with water-cooled.   With no space for the auxiliary cooling towers, the main cooling towers must be modified for the main and auxiliary A/C systems.  M&P successfully designed the modification that others would not attempt.   To date, the improved system has operated successfully for 25 years.
  4. In 1990, designed Prudential Assurance Tower with all its false ceilings at the beam soffit level. (i.e. All M&E services at ceiling must pass through beams.)   This is the ultimate standard in building design; and it maximized the clear ceiling heights at all floors. Surprisingly, the higher building design standard resulted in a lower construction cost; the building height was reduced by about 10%; the wind load was reduced by about 20%; cost of external finishes were reduced; and the overall construction cost was reduced.   To date, this is still the only building in Hong Kong that achieves this standard.
  5. In 1992, designed the most expensive and exclusive building in Hong Kong: “The Hong Kong Temple”.   The Mormons Church sent a special team from USA to interview all the established consultants in Hong Kong; and after two weeks, they selected M&P. In 2013, M&P was again selected for the major renovation project at “The Hong Kong Temple”.
  6. In 1997, R&D of the Tyre Artificial Reef for the Hong Kong Agriculture & Fisheries Department in their marine conservation projects. M&P now holds this design patent which is the only successful tyre artificial reef in the world.
  7. In 2001, R&D of the Marine Bio-filters for the Hong Kong Agriculture & Fisheries Department to solve the marine pollution in the fish culture zones.   M&P now holds this design patent which has been repeatedly used in other government projects.
  8. In 2002, prepared the Combined Services Co-ordination Design for the complex underground services in Nan Lian Garden, Diamond Hill, Kowloon. This is a public park designed to reconstruct a Tang Dynasty park, and is now included in the “China Would Heritage Tentative List”.
Nan Lian Garden was designed with a large exhibition quality Koi pond as its centre piece. At 30,000 sq. ft., this is the largest Koi pond in Asia; and M&P designed its bio-filtration system.   The only alternative to M&P’s specialist service came from Japan. M&P’s pond water quality was certified at NTU<1, and was superior to the Japanese standard at NYU<3.
  9. In 2008, designed the Hong Kong Government’s 1st Model Building Project.   The Model Project show-cased the widest range of environmental features and energy efficient systems available in Hong Kong.   Systems proven to be efficient in the Model Project would become standard requirements in future government buildings.   Sing Yin Secondary School was awarded “2013 Greenest School on Earth”.
  10. In 2010, commissioned by the Hong Kong Government to compile its “Schedule of Rates – 2010 Volume 2” which includes all the M&E unit rates (over 20,000 rates) to be used for government term contracts.   This was the first time (during its 40 years of rate compilation) that the government had commissioned a private consultant for this task.
  11. In 2013, designed Hong Kong Baptist University’s environmental chamber which was the Hong Kong’s 1st Hypoxic Chamber to be locally designed.   In two open tenders amongst the government consultants, M&P was the only responding consultant.   The system was successfully commissioned on time for the new academic year.
