Training

Services to Community

As a service to our community and a contribution to the engineering profession, M&P has established a training program since 1985. Our training program is a comprehensive course, lending directly to HKIE and membership and the British Engineering Council’s chartered membership.

In Hong Kong’s competitive business environment, many engineering companies have used their “training programs” to take advantage of young graduates: organizing their offices like design factories; and using the trainees for simple repetitive tasks that require minimal training time and resources.   M&P is against such exploitive practice.

Training Program

As one of our training options, M&P offers trainees the “HKIE Scheme A” training program.   But “Scheme A” is only a preliminary part of our full training program, which provides comprehensive training in all the M&E disciplines.  A typical trainee in our office will receive professional training in both the mechanical and electrical services, because in Hong Kong most M&E works are building services which involve both M&E disciplines.  Our young engineers will receive training in design, tender preparation, works supervision, contract administration, project management, and all other aspects of a professional engineer’s work.

At the end of our 5-year program, our trainees will be confident to apply for the professional memberships. Such a comprehensive training program demands plenty of M&P’s resources, but it is our services to the community and our contribution to the engineering profession.
